LaRocca Shoes in Boynton Beach was founded in Feb. 1984. Florida Pedorthics, Inc. was founded in July 1995 to provide our Medicare beneficiaries diagnosed with Diabetes and a qualifying foot condition therapeutic footwear and inlays through the Therapeutic Shoe Bill. Our success is due to a high degree of professionalism and caring that is demonstrated on a daily basis.
The LaRocca family originally owned and operated Scientific Shoe Fitters in the Northern NJ area. The success of the LaRocca’s shoe business can be greatly attributed to the tremendous knowledge and understanding of shoe fitting and shoe therapy techniques that are widely used in the orthopedic field by both podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons.
Joseph LaRocca Sr. began fitting shoes in 1927, by 1932 he owned and operated his own store. His reputation for extreme concern and perfection continued to build a strong following by his customers and their doctors. Joe Sr. started working closely with the doctors and therapists at the Kessler Institute and the NJ Orthopedic Hospital in Orange, NJ. He was invited to be a guest lecturer at the Kessler Institute, Columbia University and New York University on the subject of Orthopedics and Shoe Therapy, which lead to weekly lecture sessions that lasted 20 years.
Joe Jr. had first-hand experience of working with his dad from the age of 12 and has continued to follow in the same orthopedic footsteps of his dad. Joe Jr. volunteered at the VA outpatient clinic in Riviera Beach from 1985 until the Palm Beach VA opened in 1995 where he went on to run the therapeutic shoe clinic every Friday for 10 years.
Joe Sr. passed away in 1993; however, the tradition of excellence lives on. LaRocca Shoes operates today with three ABC certified Pedorthists on staff. They include Joseph LaRocca Jr., Paul Carolan and Danielle Fernandez. No other orthopedic shoe facility in Florida can boast of such credentialed shoe fitting professionals.
LaRocca Shoes has grown into a full retail facility that includes most name brands. Our specialty is in Diabetic shoe fitting, orthotics, wound care and general comfort shoes and sandals. Our staff is professional and friendly and will always go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction.
